"Regular Service Steam"


 

Regular Service Steam, In the period 1989 to 1994, the Victorian PTC made a decision to allow steam locos, on occasion, to haul regularly scheduled passenger and freight trains. A host of interesting and spectacular operations has resulted.  This tape covers many such operations, R, J and K class locos on trains for crew training, and some magnificent performances ensued, especially R class performing Geelong passenger duties.  Sixty minutes of top steam action. This tape includes:

  •  Early morning Seymour passenger trains with J and R class.
  • R class at 100kph+;  R and K class on freight trains.
  • 14 car Geelong passenger trains - Steam working to diesel schedules.
  • Cabride R 761 on a Geelong - Melbourne pass
